A True Island Retreat
Tucked into the lush, mountainous terrain above town, I had the incredible opportunity to stay at Serene Scene on St. John—and it was nothing short of magical. Elevated just enough to feel like a secret hideaway, yet still close to everything you could possibly want—beaches, trails, the vibrant charm of downtown Cruz Bay, and the stunning expanse of the Virgin Islands National Park.

The apartment itself is a breath of fresh air—literally. Open, airy, and flooded with light and island breeze, it offers a beautiful sense of privacy and peace. There's a natural flow of calming, welcoming energy that hits you the moment you step inside. Every detail seems thoughtfully curated to help you slow down and simply be.

The real gem, though? The expansive deck. Whether you're enjoying a quiet meal under the Caribbean sky or swaying into a nap in the hammock with the sounds of birds and rustling palms in the background, it's a slice of island heaven.

Kristen and Jay are the kind of hosts you dream about. Warm, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the rhythms of island life, they don’t just hand over keys. They are responsive when we reached out with a question, but they gave us our space. From beach chairs, towels, a fully furnished place and kitchen, to tips on hidden snorkeling spots or trailheads, they make sure you’re not just visiting—you’re experiencing the island with ease.

With flowering tropical plants all around, the occasional visit from island wildlife, and some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world just minutes away, it’s easy to forget what day it is and just melt into the natural beauty all around.

This isn't just a place to stay. It’s a place to feel. To feel relaxed, at home, and even a little transformed. When you stay here, you're not a tourist—you’re part of the island.

From the moment Kristen and Jay met me at the ferry dock and guided me to Serene Scene, I was in heaven. This is a bright, spotless, and thoughtfully set up retreat—private entrance, comfy bed, breezy airflow, and Wi-Fi that made planning beach days simple. I loved waking to birdsong, sipping the filtered tap water, and lingering on the deck as the hillside settled into evening.

The location is perfect: tucked away enough to feel like a secret, yet an easy drive to beaches, trails, and town. The space stayed cool and calm, with everything I needed within reach.
